Student Stories: Past Award Recipients
Elyn Blackman
Nicolet High School 2000 Scholarship Recipient
After graduating from Nicolet in 2000, I matriculated to the University of South Carolina. While completing my undergraduate degree, I participated in the Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian Alliance and advocated for BGLTQ rights in South Carolina. I graduated in 2004 with a BA in Philosophy.
I am currently completing two masters degrees in English and Library Science. I have completed academic work related to masculinity studies and bisexuality studies including a paper on biphobia in Chaucer criticism that I am hoping to publish. I am also currently getting involved with the struggle for sex workers rights.
I am very grateful for the support I received from GSA for Safe Schools and the opportunity I have had to be involved with advocating for equality.
