Student Stories: Past Award Recipients
Jeanne Fahrenbach James Madison Memorial High School
1999 Scholarship Recipient
I have just finished my first year at Brooklyn Law School in New York where I am the treasurer of the school's OutLaws (LGBT group). This summer, I will be back in Wisconsin for an internship with Judge Lynn Adelman in Milwaukee. Prior to law school, I taught emotionally disturbed and learning disabled students for three years in a large community high school in Brooklyn. Last year, while there, I assisted a group of students in starting an LGBT group structured to meet their needs as out and not-so-out students. I graduated from University of Michigan in 2002.
Because of my involvement with GSAFE in high school, I have continued to be very aware of the needs affecting LGBT youth, especially minority and inner city youth.
