Student Stories: Past Award Recipients

I currently teach emotionally and behaviorally disabled high school students in a small town north of the Twin Cities. It is often inspiring and always challenging. I'm glad to be able to return the favor and support many young men and women as I was once supported. Without the teachers, coaches and mentors, my life may have taken a very different turn.

Recently, I connected with the GSA at the school in which I teach and am excited by the ideas and goals of these students. I'm constantly inspired by young people; they give me the boost that I need to keep coming back. I continue to work for the advancement of the LGBT community because it is at the very heart of who I am, and I am confident that, with guidance, this generation of young people can make the change.
