I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (U of M). I designed my own major in sociology, psychology and LGBT Studies to further inform and investigate my passion for creating positive change for disadvantaged populations. I was involved on campus, worked at the GLBT Programs Office and served on a system - wide administrative committee that ensures ongoing progress on LGBT issues at every U of M campus. During my senior year, I worked closely with faculty advisors and explored the ways in which identity has changed among sexual minority youth. I finished my senior honors thesis, entitled "Sexual Minority Youth: A Diverse and Resilient New Generation," and graduated magna cum laude.
After graduation last spring, I moved back to Wisconsin to begin law school. My first year has been intense but enjoyable. This summer I will continue my internship from last semester as a law clerk for Governor Doyle's legal counsel, organize and plan in my position as chair of our LGBT law student group (QLaw), and hopefully find plenty of time to relax.
My involvement in the LGBT movement has influenced the direction of my life. I often think back to the first GSA conference I attended in Madison (probably about 8 years ago) and the way it inspired me to become active in my school and create positive change in my community.
