About GSA for Safe Schools Judi Devereux Community Activist and Educator Award
The Gay Straight Alliance for Safe Schools will award the Judi Devereux Community Activist and the Educator of the Year Award at the 14th annual Celebration of Leadership. The event will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Monona Terrace in Madison. Recipients of these awards will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting respect for all, especially in a school setting, with an emphasis on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues (LGBT). Awards are open to all Wisconsin activists and educators, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
Examples of activities that might bring an applicant to the attention of GSA for Safe Schools include, but are not limited to:
- A teacher or administrator who has been active in supervising the formation or continuation of a Gay-Straight Alliance
- A teacher, administrator, or community activist who has consistently included GLBT materials in their course curriculum or work place.
- Someone who has organized an event that has promoted the idea of fair treatment and safety for GLBT students, family and community members.
- Someone who has been an active part of community efforts involving GLBT issues.
Requirements GSA for Safe Schools Judi Devereux Community Activist and Educator Award
- Community activist or educator
- Resident of Wisconsin
- Completion of nomination information
